Konrad J. Dias PT, DPT, CCS, received his B.S. in Exercise Physiology, M.S. in Physical Therapy, and clinical doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Dr. Dias is also a Board Certified Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Clinical Specialist.

Dr. Dias became engaged in teaching, early in his career. He was Adjunct Professor at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell and currently is Associate Professor in the School of Health Professions at Maryville University of St. Louis, Missouri, where he teaches graduate courses in the areas of cardiopulmonary physical therapy and pathology. Dr. Dias has presented nationally at the APTA Combined Sections Meeting and was involved in a variety of programs to disseminate physical therapy internationally. He had the privilege of presenting lectures at the Christian Medical College Vellore, India; Es Salud Health Care System in Lima, Peru and an invited speaker for a program co-sponsored by the national Chilean Physical Therapy Association and the Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educacion in Santiago, Chile.

Dr. Dias has clinical experience working in the acute care setting at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts, treating medical and surgical inpatients as well as ICU patients and currently works within several nursing home settings treating primary cardiopulmonary patients and patients with cardiopulmonary co morbidities.

He has authored several chapters within the latest editions of the Acute Care Handbook for Physical Therapists and Essentials of Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy as well as published articles and abstracts in the Journal of Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy.

Michelle L. Peterson PT, DPT, is a licensed physical therapist with a clinical doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from Drexel University, PA.

In addition, Dr Peterson has earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology and an Associate degree in Paramedic Science.

Dr. Peterson began her professional career in the emergency medical services - quickly progressing from an emergency medical technician to a nationally registered Paramedic at Underwood Hospital in New Jersey.

Her career in physical therapy has primarily focused on managing patients in the intensive care unit including five cardiothoracic ICUs in the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and currently holds the lead ICU therapist position at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden, NJ.

Dr. Peterson is a firm believer of collaborative care within the ICU and putting theory and evidence to practice. She has been integrally involved in developing the role of the rehabilitation professional in the ICU at her current position, through researching the evidence and presenting several in-services to update staff on current guidelines for effective care.

In addition, Dr Peterson has provided service to the community and enhanced her teaching ability through instruction of CPR classes and providing lectures to various organizations within the community.

Her passion for teaching and joy in seeing the critically ill patient improve functionally makes her an apt instructor for this program.
